Jareen Imam is an award-winning media and marketing executive with more than 15 years of journalism experience. She serves as the Vice President of the Marketing & Communications team at REFORM Alliance.
Prior to joining REFORM, Imam was the Head of Social Video Strategy for the Kamala Harris 2024 Presidential Campaign, leading a team to create groundbreaking, viral video content that mobilized audiences.
She formerly worked at Amazon Ads where she developed editorial strategies and content programs to advance the company’s advertising business. Her branded video series “The Spark,” a documentary series on small business owners, was named the best-branded series by Digiday in 2024.
Before joining Amazon, she was the Director of Social Newsgathering at NBC News, leading a global team of journalists, producers, and writers to find, verify, and report on news stories using social forensic techniques and open-source intelligence tools. In 2022, Imam won an Emmy for her team’s reporting and investigation of the January 6 Capitol Riots. In 2019, Imam was named one of Take the Lead’s “50 women who can change the world in journalism” fellows and IWMF’s Gwen Ifill fellow.
Imam was also the former Head of Social at CBS News where she led social and emerging platform strategies for brands such as CBS News, CBS This Morning, 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, Evening News, Sunday Morning, and other premiere CBS shows.
Before moving to New York City, Imam was a writer, producer, and editor for CNN in Atlanta, reporting on trending and newsworthy stories. She was on the award-winning iReport team where Imam focused on audience engagement, user-generated content (UGC), and community management. Imam was also the editor of CNN’s space and science coverage, assigning, writing, and field reporting.
Imam started her journalism career as a field producer for the documentary crime show “48 Hours.”
Additionally, Imam is a frequent guest lecturer covering social media and content development at colleges like the University of Florida, San Francisco State University, and Fordham University. In 2018, Imam was inducted into Poynter’s Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media. She’s also a two-time Peabody Award winner.
Beyond her career achievements, Imam is a published poet, creative writer, and painter. Her artwork has hung in museums and galleries like the Norton Art Museum in West Palm Beach and the Boca Raton Art Museum.
